Two more suspected illegal suertres bet collectors were arrested at the public market last Sunday afternoon as police mounted an all-out campaign against all forms of illegal gambling in Zamboanga City.
Arrested were Nurcia Amil y Cuevas, 46, married of Sinunuc and Hurham Muhaddiman y Himpon, 23, single of Rio Hondo.

They were nabbed by operatives of the Zamboanga City Public Safety Company under Supt. Diomarie Albarico around 4 p.m.

A police report disclosed that the two were caught in the act collecting bets from people at Row C stalls.

Confiscated from their possession were several gambling paraphernalia such as tally sheets, betting stubs, a carbon paper, ballpen and bet money amounting to P36.

The suspects were taken to the police station for investigation while the seized items were turned over to investigators pending the filing of charges in court.

Meanwhile, Lita Ang, 66, and Mohammad Tingcon, 56, who were earlier arrested for the same offense, were taken to the City Prosecutor Office for inquest for violation of Republic Act No. 9287 (increasing penalties on illegal number game).

The two suspects however availed of the 15-day waiver and were detained again at the police station. — Dan Toribio Jr.
