Beng inducts ZCPPC officers PDF Print E-mail

The newly elected and appointed officers of the revived Zamboanga City Police Press Corps were fomally inducted by Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar in a simple ceremony and program held together with the 26th anniversary celebration of Daily Zamboanga Times last Monday night.

Mayor Climaco-Salazar lauded the organization for its commitment to serve the Zamboanga community through the dissemination of accurate information on police matters.

Also part of the program was the annual recognition of some deserving policemen which is being done by Police Watch Zamboanga headed by veteran broadcaster Arsenio “Rawhide” Nuevo.

Those who received certificates of recognition were acting City Police Director Sr. Supt. Abgelito Casimiro, Supt. William Gadayan, Chief Insp. Ariel Huesca, Sr. Insp. Arlan Delumpines, Sr. Insp. Elmer Solon, Sr. Insp. Abdulnasser Masilam, Insp. Albert Alfaro, SPO4 Gerardo Burlasa, SPO2 Alexander, Mabalot, SPO1 Melvin Abil, PO3 Shirley Bullecer and PO2 Gregorio Bernardo.

The ZCPPC also recognized Jesus Basilio, Rolly Carpio, Marlon Simbajon, Merasol Monteza, Jimmy Villaflores, Teodyver Arquiza and Edward Enriquez, all reporters and announcers of RMN Zamboanga who risked their lives during the Zamboanga September 2013 siege covering the MNLF attack right at the conflict areas.

Also given posthumous recognition during to twin occasion were five policemen who were killed in action during the siege. They were; PO2 Christopher R Hernaez, PO3 Murphy Abbilani, Insp. Jay Oyoyan, PO2 Enrique Espejo Afable III, PO2 Lawin Balokey Salisa.

Nuevo founded the police press corps in 1990. It became inactive for some 10 years due to some reasons.

On the other hand, Daily Zamboanga Times skippered by Edito-in-Chief Roy Ramos marked its 26th year anniversary with the commitment to continue serving Zamboanga City and the region with accurate, fair and relevant information as well as unbiased and sober opinions. – Dan Toribio Jr.
