Zamboanga’s very own Rizza Angeles won the championship in the National Quiz Bee held Monday afternoon in line with the ongoing 62nd Family Youth 4-H National Congress in General Santos City.

Angeles of the 4-H Club Talon-talon bested 17 other contestants from different regions in the country during the quiz bee that tackled on agriculture and 4-H Club national activities.

As this developed, Mayor Beng Climaco extended her warm greetings to Angeles for the achievement and for making Zamboangueños proud.

City Agriculturist Diosdado Palacat, who leads the Zamboanga delegation to the National Congress personally informed the mayor about Angeles’ achievement few minutes after the Quiz Bee concluded Monday afternoon.

Nine (9) out of the 29 delegates from Zamboanga Peninsula to the National Congress are from Zamboanga City and are joining in the different activities lined up for the 3-day Congress slated from May 26-28.

Palacat said Angeles was the champion in both the city and regional finals for the National Quiz Bee held few weeks prior to the national finals in General Santos City. He said other Zamboanga City participants to the other contests also have a great chance of winning.

The annual Family and youth Congress is intended to empower the youth to reach their full potential. It is also the venue where the organizers recognize the youth’s significant contributions to the nation’s development.

The Congress is organized by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) under the Department of Agriculture (DA). — Sheila Covarrubias
