Two men were killed in separate gun violence in Basilan yesterday and Monday.

Shot dead in an ambush was Teddy Pukala, former president of the Association of Barangay Chairmen of Tuburan municipality.

Pukala was aboard his motorcycle on his way home around 12:30 p.m. when gunmen blocked his path and opened fire on him between Barangay Lahi-Lahi and Sinulatan.

He suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the body and was dead on arrival at the St. Peter Hospital si a causa el su muerte.

According to Basilan Police Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Mario Dapillosa, police investigators were still clueless on the motive of the killing as well as the identification of the perpertrators.

In the other incident, Ben Hasim Aharun, 48, married, of Barangay Bato, Lamitan, was cooking in the kitchen of his house when a gunman crept in and shot him using a Garand rifle around 7:20 p.m. last Monday.

Aharun was hit in the chest, left arm and right side of his body and died on the spot.
