A section of Barangay Kasanyangan has been declared a one way street from June 2 to August 16 to give way to a road rehabilitation/ concreting/ reblocking project undertaken by the District Engineer’s Office.

Executive Order (EO) 55-2014 issued by Mayor Beng Climaco on May 28 mandates the imposition of a temporary traffic rerouting scheme and declares a section of a section of Kasanyangan a one way street from its junction with T. Hanapi Drive to its junction with Atilano Loop for the duration of the project.

The project, undertaken by a DPWH-commissioned contractor, involves the concreting of 200mm thick road with a total length of 370 linear meters.

The District Engineer’s Office recommended the temporary closure of the road, which in turn was endorsed by the City Administrator’s Office citing the possible effects of the implementation of the project to vehicular traffic in the area.

The EO provides various conditions and these include: that all motors coming from Talon-talon shall not be allowed to enter barangay Kasanyangan but instead shall turn right to Atilano Loop (Talon-talon) in going to the city proper; likewise all motor vehicles coming from the city proper shall be allowed to pass through barangay Kasanyangan in going to Talon-talon and that the contractor for the project (Mother’s Role Construction) shall likewise field personnel to assist in traffic management of the road with adequate and appropriate road signages.

The City Police is tasked to implement the EO with the assistance of the barangay tanods of barangay Kasanyangan. —Sheila Covarrubias
