The Department of Agriculture’s (DA) Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory has recorded nine confirmed cases of rabies for the past five months of this year.

DA Regional Rabies Coordinator Dr. Frans Que said the confirmed cases of rabies came from eight of this city’s 98 barangays.

The confirmed cases were from the following barangays: Upper Calarian; Sta. Maria; Cawit; Canelar; Talisayan; Tetuan; Tumaga; and, Guiwan, which has two cases.

Que has advised the public to immediately submit the dog’s head for laboratory test once the dog dies “after biting them.”

The laboratory test is for free of charge and the result will be known within the day.

Que said it would also be the basis on how to manage dog bite patient. — RGAAG
