Police on Thursday arrested two members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), but six others managed to escape in Barangay Carbon, Malamawi island, Isabela City.

Arrested were Dante Moreno and Macapili Parael, both natives of Cotabato City.

Isabela Chief of Police Supt. Albert Larubis said they had received a call on Thursday afternoon informing that  there were armed men in Barangay Carbon.

Immediately, Larubis and his men rushed to the barangay and spotted the armed men who ran towards a pumpboat to escape, but they were caught up by the lawmen.

Seized from their possession were a hand grenade, a homemade 9mm Ingram machine pistol, a knife and MNLF uniforms.

Six of their companions, however, managed to escape.

In an interview, Moreno and Parael claimed they have no bad intention in Malamawi island except to meet Hadji Bensali Saripa, MNLF commander of Saura Division, Maguindanao
