A 35-year-old man was slightly wounded and he and his companion were arrested in a police operation in Sta. Maria last Saturday night.

Wounded was Jonathan Villanueva y Aliman, married of Pagadian City. He and Michael Baga y Cosme, 26, married, of Pasonanca, were arrested.

Villanueva sustained a slight wound in the body and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

A sketchy report disclosed that the police were conducting a drug buy-bust operation along Fr. Salvador Street in Sta. Maria around 9 p.m., and with no clear details, Villanueva was shot after he and Baga tried to escape

Policemen seized the motorcycle of Villanueva and Baga and impounded it at the Sta. Maria Police Station.

It was learned that Baga was driving the motorcycle with Villanueva as backrider when they were stopped at a police checkpoint during an alleged buy-bust operation.  Reportedly, they tried to escape prompting the lawmen to shoot them. — Dan Toribio Jr.
