The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) as of Friday, June 6, had recorded a total of 288 families displaced by the fire in Campo Islam last Wednesday night.

This, as City Government assistance to the affected families continues unabated.

“We still continue with the relief operations, we provided food packs and the second round will be tomorrow (Monday, June 9),” City Social Welfare Officer Ma. Socorro Roxas said.

Aside from relief goods, the City government also gave hygiene kits, pails, basin, used clothing and mats. Other groups and individuals are also sharing their blessings to the victims.

Meanwhile, Roxas said as part of the local government unit assistance, the city government will also provide P5,000 to families whose houses were totally damaged by the fire; P3,000 for those whose houses were partially damaged including renters and P1,500 for boarders.

The cash assistance will be given as soon as the validation and assessment of families and the succeeding preparation of necessary documents are done, the Social Welfare Officer added. — Sheila Covarrubias
