Mayor Beng Climaco has announced that the city government will give reward money to informants who have helped authorities in the recent arrest of two most wanted persons involved in kidnapping.
Climaco told her weekly press briefing in City Hall Monday that the city government had allocated this year the amount of P1million for the reward system.
She said the candidates for the reward money are those who provide the police with information that would lead to the whereabouts and eventual arrest of kidnap group leaders.
However, Climaco said, the police are currently documenting the informants and their accomplishments prior to the actual release of the reward money as required by auditing rules and regulations.
“We just need to make sure that the reward recipients really accomplished the task and I have asked Col. Casimiro to already process the necessary documents,” she said.
Casimiro did not name names nor the specifics of the crimes but said the city police had arrested two top kidnap gang leaders, one in the Triple S (Sibuco-Sirawai-Siocon) boundary and the other in Zamboanga Sibugay.
He said the reward money will be given to the informants as soon as the documents are done. But he declined to tell how much the informants will receive, saying it will be up to the mayor or the city government.
