Like a blooming young lady, Zion Evangelical School is celebrating its debut today with the theme “Celebrating Eighteen Years of God’s Faithfulness.”
The anniversary celebration will be led by the School’s Board of Trustees under the leadership of Dr. Paulino R. Ersando, Founding President. Joining the occasion are the School’s Faculty and Staff, parents and students who have been partners of the School since its inception on June 12, 1996.
Special feature of the program which starts at 9:00 this morning is the flag raising ceremony. To highlight the celebration is the awarding of Plaque of Recognition to Mrs. Mylene S. Deslate, Principal and Mrs. Rosalinda E. Balbuena, Registrar who have been serving the school with exemplary performance since the school started.
In partnership with today’s celebration are the officers and members of the Zamboanga Ministers Fellowship (ZMF) and the School’s Parent Teachers Association led by Pastora Alexandra L. Sarcon, General PTCA President, Rev. Dennis Sienes and Rev. Berlie Yap will give inspirational greetings in behalf of ZMF.
Anniversary Speaker is Rev. Jonathan 0. Labrador, whose daughter Dorothy Joann Lei Osog Labrador is the most outstanding alumnus of the School belonging to Batch 2004. She is a member of the Faculty of Ateneo de Zamboanga University and is presently taking her doctoral studies at De La Salle University in Manila.
Rev. Adelio G. Cangson, School Chaplain and Pastora Wenceslina R. Manuel will steer the occasion as Master of Ceremonies.
Special song numbers will be rendered by the Zion Faculty and a Youth Group from the Zion Evangelical Church led by Youth Pastor, Danelle Hope Baclaan.
The solemn opening of the celebration will be ushered with an Invocation to be rendered by Bishop Leonardo A. Romero, Pulpit Minister of Zion Evangelical Church and will be capped by an Acknowledgment by Mrs. Susan M. Ersando, School Secretary and Cashier.
The celebration today proves the goodness and faithfulness of our Almighty God enabling Zion to “train the child in the way he should go, so that when he becomes old, he shall not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6, Holy Bible). — Jemuel E. Mojica
