Gov. Uy of Zambo Norte named RPOC-9 chairman PDF Print E-mail

Gov. Roberto Y. Uy of Zamboanga del Norte has been appointed by Malacañang as the new chairman of the Regional Peace and Order Council 9 (RPOC-9).
Uy’s appointment is pursuant to Executive Order No. 773 series of  2009 and within the capacity of Dept. of Interior and Local Government  Secretary Mar Roxas who is the national  chairperson of the National Peace and Order Council (NPOC). The appointment was approved and confirmed by President Benigno S.  Aquino III.
The confirmation of  Uy as the new RPOC 9 chairman was personally announced by Roxas during his visit in the province last  May 29,2014  on the occasion of the 62th founding anniversary of Zamboanga del Norte
Among the functions of the Regional Peace and Order Council 9 is to formulate plans and recommend measures to improve peace and order, public safety and monitor implementations of peace and order programs within the region.
DILG 9 Director Paisal O. Abutazil has expressed optimism over the appointment of Gov. Uy. Abutazil is eagerly looking forward with the Local Peace and  Order Council towards ensuring stability and security in the region.
Gov. Uy has  expressed gratitude to President Aquino and Secretary Roxas for his appointment.
Uy is expected to layout his agenda and plans  on peace and order stability. The council’s  scheduled first meeting for the Calendar Year 2014 will be on June 27, 2014 in Dipolog City.
The council has 32 members composed of heads of national government agencies, local government chief executives units and private sectors representatives among others with Police Regional Office 9 Director Chief Supt. Edgar O. Basbas as the Vice Chairman. — Allen Abastillas
