A 29-year-old man was jailed after he held his live-in-partner and her four children hostage in Turno, Dipolog City last Wednesday.

Policemen and barangay officials rushed to the said place after receiving a report that Junrey Duhaylungsod y Abe, 29, single, locked his live-in-partner identified as Shahani Farrah Señoron y Limoran, 32, and her children Kimberly Señoron, 13, Juliana Señoron, 8, John Henry Señoron, 6 and John Paul Señoron, 3 inside their house around 10 a.m.

Police said Duhaylungsod was armed with a knife during the incident.

Investigation disclosed that Duhaylungsod and Shahani had figured in a heated argument as to how to discipline her children. During the argument, he armed himself with a knife and locked them inside their house.

Police and barangay officials negotiated with Duhaylungsod and around 10:30 p.m. Kimberly was released.

Then around 11 p.m. the three other kids were freed and were turned over to their grandfather for custody.

Negotiation continued until the suspect went out of the room but he was still holding his live-in partner with a knife pointing pointed on the latter’s neck.

At 11:30 p.m., Duhaylungsod surrendered to the police and released his live-in-partner.
