Two alleged members of the Abu Sayyaf Group linked to kidnappings in the city were arrested in Barangay Sangali last Monday afternoon.

Police identified those arrested as Jimmy Nurilla y Kirlo alias “Abu Dok”, 34, and Bakrin Haris.

A police report disclosed that Nurilla and Haris are active members of the ASG/Kidnap-for-Ransom Group (KFRG)  operating in Zamboanga City with link to Basilan based ASG/KFRG under the group of Khair Mundos and Furuji Indama.

Initial investigation disclosed that government forces went to Sangali to serve a warrant on a certain Leo and Walid for kidnapping and serious illegal detention with ransom under Case No. 24108 issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 16.

However, when the warrant was about to be served, Leo and Walid eluded arrest while his two companions were arrested.

The same report said that Abu Dok was involved in the kidnapping of Australian National Rodwell, US Citizen Lunsmann, Ms. Cathy Casipong and Ms. Sabrina Voon, who is still in captivity,

Nurilla and Haris were turned over to the PCTC WMFO for further interrogation.– Dan Toribio Jr.
