OWWA-9 holds forum on Migrant Workers Act 8042 PDF Print E-mail

In line with its celebration of the Migrant Workers Day, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA-RWO 9) will conduct a forum on Migrant Workers Act 8042 as amended by R.A. 10022 today (June 19) at the Bajamunde Pension Inn, Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte.

The said forum is pursuant to the directive of the Secretary of the Department of Labor and Employment, Hon. Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz, to enhance the delivery of services of DOLE, OWWA, POEA and TESDA to reach out to its clientele in every town and municipality in collaboration with the local government units, NGOs, Academe and OFW Family Circles by establishing an OFW Help Desk in their respective areas.

Consequently, there will be a signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between DOLE, OWWA, POEA, TESDA, LGU partners, NGOs, Academe and OFC Federation as part of the convergence effort of the DOLE family of agencies.

Last June 17, 2014, the same forum was conducted by OWWA among participants from Zamboanga City and Zamboanga Sibugay. A total of forty four (44) participants attended the forum which generally composed of LGUs, NGOs and Academe.

On June 21, 2014, OWWA will celebrate the annual Migrant Workers Day at Jose Rizal Memorial State University, Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte to honor the OFWs in the region.
