Police seize illegally cut lumber PDF Print E-mail

Men of the Zamboanga City Public Safety Company apprehended a cargo truck loaded with suspected illegally cut trees in Culianan last Thursday afternoon.

A police report disclosed that policemen were on mobile patrol when they spotted a truck with plate number GPJ 345 loaded with 140 flitches of gemelina and mahogany in different dimension.

Police said the truck was driven by Wilfredo Apolinario and was traveling going to El Torre Lumber in Talon-Talon from Bunguiao.

During interrogation, Apolinario could not produce papers legalizing the transport of the cut trees.

The truck and lumber as well Apolinario were taken to the city police office for further investigation and proper turnover to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

Meanwhile, men of the Sta. Maria Police Station arrested Reynaldo Fabian y Mariano, 37, of Upper Cabatangan on the strength of a warrant with case number 28931 issued by RTC Branch 15 for violation of Republic Act 9262. Recommended bail bond is P24,000. – Dan Toribio Jr.
