A military intelligence operative was wounded in an ambush in Barangay Taluksangay yesterday morning.

Wounded was Sgt. Hassan Ajad of the Military Intelligence Company (MICO) detailed at Western Mindanao Command. He sustained bullet wounds in the body and was taken to the hospital.

Initial investigation disclosed that Ajad had just taken his wife to the Taluksangay Elementary School and was about to leave the place aboard an Isuzu Fuego pick-up truck when an unidentified man armed with an armalite rifle sprayed him with bullets around 7:30 near the bunkhouse.

When Ajad was hit in the body he continued driving his vehicle and rammed it on a road barrier where it stopped.

The gunman disappeared amid the crowd.

Policemen recovered nine spent shells of 5.56 caliber at the crime scene.

The Culianan police led by Sr. Insp. Helen Galvez were still working on the case. — Dan Toribio Jr.
