The city’s rehabilitation efforts constantly move forward.

City Planning and Development Coordinator and rehabilitation cluster head Engr. Rodrigo Sicat announced recently positive developments in both the Mariki and Tiao Him housing projects during Tuesday’s press briefing at City Hall.

“The Department of Public Work and Highways (DPWH) has already approved the Mariki housing-on-stilt project and, last Thursday, the Local Inter-Agency Council or LIAC has passed a resolution endorsing the subdivision plan for the Tiao Him property,” the city official said.

LIAC’s endorsement, Sicat explained, “will trigger the DPWH to prepare the structural plans as well as the designs and specifications of the mixed housing located at the Tiao Him property.”

The planning officer on the other hand, admitted that there are problems with the distribution of the HOMA because some beneficiaries were unable to present documentary proof of their legal rights to their properties.

Forty-eight housing units are expected to be completed within the week at the Paniran resettlement area. The city is currently negotiating with utility companies for the provision of electricity and water to the site.

“Per our promise to the internally displaced persons (IDPs), once these houses should be ready for occupancy, some of them would be able to return to their previous residences or origins,” Sicat affirmed. — Claudine Uniana
