Residents of Guiwan Porcentro were horrified to discover yesterday morning the decomposing body of a pedicab driver who had been missing for more than a week.

The dead man was identified as Michael Bonifacio, 25, a native of Bunguiao and was temporarily residing in Tumaga.

Joseph Perez, Bonifacio’s step-brother, told DZT that the latter went missing last June 27, this year.

Perez said that Bonifacio had arrived home around 8 p.m. on that day. He knocked on the door of their house but his father failed to open it immediately.

When Bonifacio’s father later opened the door, he was no longer around.

It was learned that Bonifacio had left their house and failed to return for eight days until his decomposing body was recovered in a private lot in Guiwan Porcentro yesterday morning.

DZT gathered that on the night of June 27, some residents of Guiwan Porcentro heard burst of gunfire, but ignored it until few days later they smelled stench coming from the private and fenced lot.

Perez said that when he saw the decomposing body of his step-brother he was shocked to see one hand cut off.

Policemen were still trying to determine the identities of the killers. — Dan Toribio Jr.
