2 killed in Isabela shooting

A young businessman was shot and killed by a lone gunman in his car-motorcycle parts store along the highway in Guiwan last Friday night.

Police identified the fatality as Rey Angelo Tan y Kwan, 24, married, of St. Mary Street, Cabato Road, Guiwan and owner of Spyder Motor Parts.

Initial investigation disclosed that Tan was sitting on a wooden chair outside his store when a gunman armed with a 9mm pistol arrived and shot him several times at close range around 6 p.m.

The gunman first walked casually from the crime scene and at San Bernardino bridge, he ran fast towards Cabato Road.

Tan was rushed to the hospital around 7:30 p.m. but attending physicians declared him dead due to fatal multiple bullet wounds in the body.

Recovered at the crime scene were a deformed slug and four spent shells of 9mm pistol.

A witness told the police that the gunman was clad in black jacket and cargo shorts and was carrying a backpack.

Police were looking into several angles behind the killing.

In Basilan, an army soldier and his civilian companion were shot dead inside at Barangay Marketsite, Isabela City  at dawn yesterday.

Killed were Pvt. GLendon L. Jorolan, single of Sitio Balanban and Oliver Plad of Barangay Baluno. Both sustained multiple gunshot wounds on the different parts of the body.

Men of the Isabela police station led by Insp. Dindin proceeded to the crime scene where they found the two dead men.

Investigators were still gathering information that may determine the identity of the gunman.

Recovered at the crime scene were seven spent cartridges and two slugs of caliber 45
