The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management ad-interim office is fully operational effective July 1 and is ready to respond to emergency calls 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Assistant City Administrator Elmeir Apolinario, Ph.D., who is the designated head of the temporary CDRRM office, said the office has been set up by virtue of administrative order BC-06-2014 designating and placing various city employees on administrative detail at the office for the purpose of setting direction, development, implementation and coordination of disaster risk management programs in the city.

“We inform the officials from the 98 barangays of the city, please be aware that the CDRRMO ad interim office is already in place and is ready to respond to your call 24/7,” Apolinario said.

Employees designated and placed on administrative detail to the said office come from the offices of the City Mayor, City Engineer and City Administrator.

The CDRRM ad interim office includes various divisions and units such as the Administration and Training Division, Research and Planning Division, Operations and Warning Division, CCTV unit, Traffic management unit and Emergency Responders Unit.

The ad interim office shall be in force until such time the CDRRMO is created and institutionalized by virtue of a City Ordinance.

Based on Republic Act 10121, the CDRRMO is considered a mandatory office and that each province, city or municipality shall prioritize the establishment of the office. Barangays shall also prioritize the establishment of the DRRM committee.
