Town employee involved in holdup falls; pal escapes PDF Print E-mail

A municipal government employee was arrested while his cohort eluded arrest after they held up two personnel of a lending company in Sitio Mataga, Depase, Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur last week.

Police identified the suspects as Edgar Aranges and a certain Bides, who is still the subject of police manhunt. Both of them were employees of Bayog municipal government.

A police report disclosed that Mary Ann Merontes Ending, 27, single, of Barangay Camilang, Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay, Field Credit Officer of KFI Center for Community Development Foundation Inc. and her co-employee Mark Leo Delfin, 18, single, of Kahayagan, Bayog, were riding tandem on a motorcycle that was negotiating the highway in Sitio Mataga when two men armed with .45 caliber pistol and .38 cal. revolver, who were later identified as Aranges and Bides, blocked their path and announced the heist at gunpoint.

The suspects took the company money amounting to P112,000 and a cellular phone then sped away.
Mary Ann and Mark Leo rushed to the nearest police station to report the incident.

A hot pursuit operation carried out by the police resulted in the arrest of Aranges. Bides managed to escape.
