6 Zambo City musclemen to vie in int’l tilt PDF Print E-mail

Six bodybuilders from Zamboanga City will represent the Philippines and will compete in the 2011 5th Asia-Pacific International Bodybuilding and Figure Championship in Boracay on April 28 to May 1, 2011.
The six musclemen are Ricardo Francisco, Joenard Pielago, Ramsey Hamja, Roger Atilano, Joey Acar and Zaldy Diaz.

Lito Mabalot, coach, and Kit Mortera, head of delegation, said the Zamboangueño bodybuilders were chosen to form the Philippine Team and vie with nine other countries such as New Zealand, U.S.A., Malaysia, Holland, Singapore, Canada, Indonesia, Australia and India.

Mortera said the winner in the Asia-Pacific International Bodybuilding and Figure Championship will compete in the Mr. Universe competition and will represent Asia that will be held in Germany on November, this year.

Francisco, Pielago,Hamja, Atilano and Acar were chosen and won during the Zamboanga Musclemen Competition held at the Park 88 Entertainment Center in Pasonanca several weeks ago.

Diaz was the winner (Novice Category) in the bodybuilding competition during the Zambolympics of  Congressman Erbie A. Fabian held at the Enriquez Sports Complex last month.

Mabalot said the team headed by him and Mortera will fly to Boracay on April 27 and the contest proper will commence the following day up to May 1, 2011.
Mabalot added that the city government shouldered the travel expenses of the team.
Many Zamboangueños have shone in Bodybuilding competitions in the past years like Mortera and Jimmy Ansok.
Mabalot said that at present there are several local bodybuilders having potentials to win titles in national competitions.
