The City Government yesterday afternoon facilitated the release and distribution of financial aid to fire victims as part of the social service assistance it provides to residents in need.

Facilitated by City Mayor Beng Climaco and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) headed by Ma. Socorro Rojas and Leonida Bayan, the provision of the cash assistance was extended to some 137 families affected by different fire incidents recorded last May.

The City released a total of P569,500.00 cash support to 11 families from Zone III, 21 families from Recodo, 1 family from Calarian, 101 families from Kasanyangan, and 3 families from Boalan.

Depending on the severity of the damaged properties and the house ownership status, homeowners with totally damaged homes received P5,000.00 each. House renters received P3,000.00 each, while boarders received either P2,000.00 or P 1,500.00 each.

The grant of cash assistance is a continued service facilitated by the CSWDO to calamity victims, and is legally mandated through a resolution of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC). — Jasmine Mohammadsali
