Actress Alma Moreno of the national councilors’ league on Friday paid Maguindanao Gov. Esmael Mangudadatu a visit in Buluan town to thank him for supporting her candidacy for the group’s top post during its March 2014 election.

Moreno, a councilor in Parañaque, is the league’s incumbent national chairperson.

Moreno had told Mangudadatu, during their meeting at the provincial government’s satellite office in Buluan town, that she is grateful to the support of the province to her candidacy to the league’s top post during its latest selection of national officers.

She said councilors in Maguindanao and Mangudadatu supported her candidacy unanimously.

Mangudadatu said he is planning to involve the league in the provincial government’s peace initiatives meant to lure prospective domestic and foreign investors.

He said the visit of Moreno to Maguindanao was another boost to his effort to show to the political and business communities in Visayas and Luzon that there is fragile peace now in the province, as a result of the political democracy now reigning in the area, and peace efforts of the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

Buluan, hometown of the Mangudadatu clan, hosted last May 21-23 the executive meeting of the national league of vice mayors, which was presided over by its chairman, Manila Vice-Mayor Isko Moreno, whose real name is Francisco Domagoso.

The vice mayor promised help convince investors to come in and venture into profitable agricultural projects that can generate employment for the local Moro communities.
