The City Health Office has cautioned the public against water-borne diseases this rainy season.

City Health Officer Dr. Rodelin Agbulos issued the warning Thursday, citing they should take precautionary measures to avoid getting sick.

“They should wear cap, jacket and use umbrella to protect them from rain,” Agbulos added.

Agbulos said the public, especially the children and those with open wounds, should avoid wading in flood waters as they will be vulnerable to leptospirosis.

Aside from leptospirosis, Agbulos said among the other prevalent diseases during rainy season are dengue and pneumonia.

He advised the public to seek early consultation at the nearest health center or hospital once they experience symptoms of water-borne disease. — RGAAG
