The Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU) through its Social Development Units (SDUs) with the Ateneo Peace Institute (API) taking the lead, will hold a peace forum entitled “Weaving the Tapestry for Peace: A Forum on the Comprehensive Agreement onBangsamoro” to be held tomorrow, July 22, 2014 at the Orchid Ballroom, Garden Orchid Hotel.

The forum aims to bring together people from different sectors of society, especially those from the academes and organizations who are in direct contact with the grassroots communities to listen, learn and dialogue with one another concerning the proposed Bangsamoro Government and Laws.

Moreover, to be able to deliver fair and just information that may help the participants acquire a deep and thoughtful understanding of the issues on the CAB,key persons from various institutions and organizations in the country were invited as resource persons. About 152 to 200 participants and guests are expected to grace this event. The organizing team developed a strategy to ensure there is wider participation and involvement among the stakeholders.

This endeavor is made possible through the support of the ADZU administration led by Fr. Karel S. San Juan SJ, ADZU President, The Asia Foundation, International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP).

A sustainable, just, and lasting peace is a great challenge to achieve. But through genuine and concerted efforts among stakeholders, civil society groups, church, academic institutions, government and non-government organizations and even the marginalized sectors of the society; this dream of a peaceful Mindanao is not far from becoming a reality.
