A businessman was killed Monday night in Cawit in the latest gun violence in Zamboanga City.

Shot dead was Francisco Molenio Sr. y Rabanez, 66, married, of Barangay Guiwan. He was shot by two gunmen on board a red-white sport-type motorcycle.

Molenio sustained multiple gunshot wounds on his body and was rushed to the Brent Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

Initial police investigation disclosed that Molenio, owner of an electrical shop, was driving his gold colored multicab with three employees aboard coming from Barangay Talisayan, after delivering an  electrical motor thereat when a red-white motorcycle tailed them and upon reaching Cawit around 6:30 p.m.,he was shot several times with the use of a .45 caliber pistol.

Investigators recovered two .45 caliber empty shells at the crime scene.

The killers sped towards unknown direction, and police were still working on the case.

In other violence incidents, a school teacher and a man were stabbed and wounded in separate attacks in Upper Cabatangan and in Recodo on Friday and Monday respectively.

Wounded were Adelita Estiban Y Trinidad, 48, single, an elementary school teacher of Upper Cabatangan, and

Khalid Hairal y Jaafar, 29, married, of Recodo. She sustained stab wounds on her face and was rushed to the Brent Hospital for treatment.

Initial police investigation disclosed that Estiban was on board a habal-habal on her way to work Friday last week. Upon reaching some 50 meters from the school, she was attacked by her neighbor identified as Armando Santiago, married of Upper Cabatangan.

Santiago had waited earlier at the corner of the road before he stabbed her with the use of a screw driver. He was then subdued by bystanders and barangay officials together with members of the Cabatangan Police Action Center.

Estiban revealed that Santiago had long been courting her, but she rejected him. This made him angry and thus carried out the screw driver attack on the teacher.

A case for frustrated murder was forwarded at the City Prosecutor’s Office against the suspect under IS number ix-06-inq-14g-00405 dated July 19, 2014. Santiago availed of his right for preliminary investigation by signing a 15-day waiver. He is presently detained at said police station.

Hairal was stabbed and wounded at Purok 8, Recodo, around 7:40 p.m. Monday by his neighbor identified as a certain “Jun-Jun”. He sustained stab wounds on his left chest and knee cap and was brought to the Brent Hospital for treatment.

Men of the Ayala Police Station conducted a follow up operation but the assailant was able to elude arrest.

Police were still hunting for the assailant.

Meanwhile. a man with gunshot wounds on his upper left chest was found at the vicinity of Sitio Camp Pilar, Barangay Curuan, this city around 6:00 a.m. Monday

The victim was identified as Marlon Suan Y Edroso, 21, single of Barangay Lawagan, Labason, Zamboanga Del Norte. He was seen by concerned residents lying at a nipa hut. They reported what they saw to Cpl. Lino Cadar Legaspi, a member of 17th Special Forces based in Curuan. The victim was turned over to Curuan Police Station and was brought to the Quiniput Emergency Hospital for treatment. He was later transferred to Zamboanga City Medical Center for further medication.
