OFW dependents to get death, burial benefits PDF Print E-mail

Seven OFW dependents will be granted a total of P840,000.00 death and burial benefits today (August 1) by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration-9.

The said benefits are given to the immediate families of the OFWs who died while working abroad. Each of the seven families whose OFW relative died due to natural cause will receive P120,000. In case of accidental cause of death, P200,000 will be granted to the OFW’s next of kin plus P20,000 as burial assistance.

OWWA Regional Director Hassan Gabra T. Jumdain will personally hand over the checks due to the beneficiaries today at 9 a.m.

“The dependents of the deceased OFWs are also eligible to avail of OWWA’s livelihood and educational assistance,” Jumdain said.

For deceased OFWs whose salary was below $400, their next of kin can be recipient of the Education and Livelihood Assistance Program wherein the child of the deceased will be granted P5,000 for Elementary, P8,000 for High School or P10,000 for College and the surviving spouse will receive P15,000.00 livelihood assistance
