Beng leads Dia de Alcalde in Tigtabon PDF Print E-mail

Mayor Beng Climaco on Saturday took off to the island barangay of Tigtabon to spearhead the Dia del Alcalde, an outreach mission intended to bring the government closer to the people.

Some 500 families were served during the day-long activity in Tigtabon – considered as the first in an island barangay.  The mission was a collaborative effort of the City Government and various offices and agencies – District II Cong. Lilia Nuno, Councilor Mike Alavar, Task Force Zamboanga and Western Mindanao Command and the Philippine Toy Library (PTL).

City government offices that regularly provide services were also present- City Health Office led by Dr. Rodelin Agbulos, Civil Registrar’s Office, City Agriculturist Office and the City Mayor’s Office.

The mission included free medical services offered by the CHO staff, dental services courtesy of Cong. Nuno, free haircut for young boys courtesy of the marine soldiers and feeding program courtesy of Coun. Alavar.

The PTL brought along toys and books for the opening of another outlet in Tigtabon.

On the other hand, personnel from the Civil Registrar’s Office offered services for registration of important dates while staff from the City Veterinarian Office vaccinated dogs and other animals. The City Agriculturist office personnel did demonstrations and gave lectures on agriculture and various livelihood activities.

While in the island, Mayor Climaco took the opportunity of meeting with the barangay Council led by Attang Hji. Mohamad Nul to find out their concerns, as well as to inform the constituents of the priorities and plans and programs of the present administration.

Acting City Schools Superintendent Pedro Melchor Natividad was also present which also gave way for a meeting-consultation between Mayor Climaco and the island school teachers.

The Dia del Alcalde is one program initiated by the Climaco administration to deliver basic social services to the barangay folks in celebration of the barangay fiesta. -- Sheila Covarrubias
