Police authorities in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) lauded the police office in Lamitan City for the arrest of eight persons allegedly involved in illegal drug trade.

Chief Supt. Noel Delos Reyes, ARMM police regional director, commended the Lamitan City PNP for effectively serving the search warrants Tuesday morning at the house of Hayzam Sangkula in Sitio Tinambakan, Barangay Maganda, Lamitan City, Basilan at about 10 a.m.

Led by Lamitan City police director Chief Inspector Jose Gallardo, the raiding team also arrested eight persons found to be inside the house of Sangkula and engaged in illegal drug trade.

The operation resulted in the confiscation of five sachets of white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu”, a weighing scale, two bladed weapons, five pieces lighter, two computer laptop, one digital camera, money amounting to P2,770 of different denominations.

The eight persons arrested, including Sangkula, are now undergoing tactical interrogation at the Lamitan City PNP lock-up cell while charges are being readied against them.
