A four-year-old boy was killed after he was sideswiped by an Adventure van along Lobregat Highway in Culianan yesterday morning.

The van continued running after hitting the boy, but it was intercepted and stopped in Sangali.

Culianan Police Station chief Sr. Insp. Helen Galvez identified the fatality as Cyrus Ramacho of Culianan. He died on the spot.

Galvez said that Ramacho was with his grandmother when the accident happened. He darted the highway going to the other side through a pedestrian lane, but the speeding Adventure driven by Romeo Cabalan Lucero with some companions aboard caught him.

Lucero sped the vehicle leaving the child on the ground bloodied.

Lucero was intercepted in Sangali by policemen and was turned over to the Culianan Police Station.

Galvez quoted Lucero to have said he had no intention to escape, but was afraid of what the Culianan folks would do to him if he would stop the vehicle, that’s why he continued driving until he was caught in Sangali.

Galvez said Lucero could face hit-and-run charge after he tried to escape. — Dan Toribio Jr.
