The Zamboanga City Fire District (ZCFD) has been renamed and reorganized into Zamboanga City District Central Fire Station (ZCDCFS) effective May 30, this year.

ZCDCFS District Fire Marshal Supt. Dominador F. Zabala,Jr. said that pursuant to Memorandum Circular (MC) Number 2014-001 issued on February 6, 2014 guidelines were provided for the Staffing and Reorganization of the Bureau of Fire Protection at the Regional. Provincial/District, City and Municipal Fire Station/Sub-Stations.

The MC aims to address the ideal ratio on the needs for personnel and equipment vis-a-vis the total and ever growing population of the city and despite the regular hiring of personnel, such number cannot complement the standard requirement for an ideal set-up for every fire station or unit.

However, Supt. Zabala,Jr. said that contingency measures have been instituted in order to maximize personnel in various field works geared toward services to the public without hampering quality and time.

He added that the Zamboanga City Fire District has already merged with the Central Fire Station so that services to be rendered to the people will not be hindered by the services of the Bureau of Fire Protection’s ZCDCFS.

It was also disclosed that while fire trucks are under repair or unserviceable for a period of one month or more, personnel assigned to the same shall be transferred on temporary detailed service to other stations or sub-stations within the ZCCDFS.

He also said that under the MC a maximum of 33 personnel are uniformly required to be assigned for administrative works or services and at least seven personnel for every fire engine companies (or fire trucks) in all District Central Fire Stations nationwide and at least 11 personnel are required in every fire sub-stations under the District Central Fire Stations in this city.
