Hip-hop dance contest set on May 13 PDF Print E-mail

The city tourism division under the Office of the City Mayor is now accepting applications for the Hip-Hop Dance 2011 set on May 13 at 6pm at the Paseo del Mar. The contest is another highlight in this year’s Summer Festival.

The Competition is a first come first serve basis and only the first ten entries will be accepted to the competition.

Prizes for the competition will be P5,000 for the first place winner, P3,000 for the second place winner and P2,000 for the third placer. Non-winners will receive a consolation prize of P1,000 each.
All dance crew with 3- 8 members are entitled to join the contest. The dance crew can be composed of all male, all female or male and female members. Performance time is set at a minimum of three (3) minutes and maximum of five (5) minutes.

Performance exceeding the prescribed maximum allowed will be deducted one point per minute from each judges total score. Dance tracks must be saved on a compact disc in playable audio file.
Registration forms are available at the Tourism Division, Office of the City Mayor, Sunken Garden.

Criteria for judging include choreography- 30%, mastery and timing- 20%, originality- 30%, variety of hip hop dance style- 10% and showmanship- 10% for a total of 100 percent.

The order of performance will be determined by drawing of lots on May 12, 2011 at 2:00 pm at  theTourism Division, Office of the City Mayor, Sunken Garden. CD’s should be submitted on the same day.

The organizer will not be held in liable for any inquiry that may be sustained during the performance of their dance exhibitions and that no appeal or protest will be entertained, as the decision of the Board of Judges is final. — Sheila Covarrubias
