An employee of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Basilan District Office  was shot and stabbed by an unidentified man while he and his female companion were about to check in at a motel in Tumaga Porcentro yesterday morning.

Hans Reyson Paul Abah, 28, sustained bullet and stab wounds in the body and was taken to a private hospital.

A police report disclosed that Abah, a resident of Isabela City,  arrived at 9:30 a.m. at the entrance of Happiness Motel where he was to meet a female companion. However when he alighted from a tricycle, Abah was shot by an unidentified assailant.

When Abah was hit by a bullet, he managed to run, but the gunman chased and stabbed him several times.

The assailant as well as the woman that Abah was about to meet disappeared.

Helpful residents rushed the victim to the hospital.

Recovered at the crime scene was a spent shell of .45 caliber pistol.  A bullet hole was also discovered at the window of a house in front of the motel.

Police have launched follow-up operations that would lead to the arrest of the suspect.
