An 11-year-old boy lost his P1,400 from a pedicab driver at Sunrise, Guiwan yesterday morning.

The victim was identified as Orland Arcillas of Daisy Road, Guiwan.

Arcillas was robbed by a certain Leo of unknown place.

Arcillas’ stepfather Oscar Ramos told DZT that he and his wife, the mother of Orland, along with the boy, boarded a pedicab driven by Leo from their residence going to the highway in Guiwan.

He said he and his wife were going to Basilan, but before they alighted from the pedicab and boarded a jeepney going downtown Zamboanga , they handed P1,400 to the boy and told him to go straight back home aboard the same pedicab.

Ramos and his wife then rode a jeepney. When they were already aboard a vessel bound for Basilan,  they received a call from their house telling them that Orland was held up robbed.

Ramos and his wife rushed back to their house in Guiwan and found the boy muddy with some contusions in the body.

The boy told them that instead of taking him home, Leo brought him to the interior of Sunrise in Guiwan where he was strangled and divested of the P1,400.

Leo fled leaving the boy and the pedicab behind.

The pedicab and its owner identified as Rolly Andang were brought to Guiwan Police Action Center.

In an interview, Andang claimed that he only knew Leo by face. He added that Leo took his pedicab without his permission. – Dan Toribio Jr.
