The National Housing Authority (NHA) expects to complete and turnover on August 21 at least 42 duplex loftable housing units at the Martha Homeowners Association in Martha, Sta. Catalina.

NHA Regional Director Engr. Al Indanan announced this during a meeting with Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson at the DPWH regional office Friday, as he presented updates concerning the different housing projects undertaken by the agency under the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction.

Indanan assured that the housing units including the water and light connections and other amenities would also be in place on the day of the turnover.

Other than the Martha HOAI houses, a total of 120 housing units at the Paniran HOA also in Sta. Catalina will also be ready for turnover on September 9.

Twenty five home materials assistance (HOMA) beneficiaries will also be given the P30,000 worth of materials under the program on September 9, according to Indanan.

Based on the project plan, the Martha Drive HOAI Subdivision project will cost a total of P9.195 million with the project duration of 100 calendar days. The project started May 2014 and will complete August 2014.

It was the project that President Aquino mentioned in his state of the nation address that drew negative reactions from some sectors saying that the president’s commitment to finish the housing units by the end of August is unbelievable.

Sec. Singson, who was in the city Friday to check on the status of the different housing and road projects under the Z3R urged all agencies concerned to fast track the rehabilitation plan and to strictly follow plans and specifications.

The secretary acknowledged the various challenges besetting the implementation of the Z3R project but said assured the national government’s all out support to have it completed based on the timeline set. — Sheila Covarrubias
