Chief Supt. Cornelio N. Barrios,  Executive Officer of the Philippine National Police’s Directorate for Operations,   arrived in Zamboanga City yesterday to conduct an assestment and inspection of the different police provincial offices in the region .

Barrios presided a command conference with police provincial directors, city directors and group commanders in attendance.

“I’m here in the region to assess and determine the internal security operations of police commands and also to find out what are their needs. We will visit all police regional offices in the country,” Barrios said.

He explained that his group will assist and determine the maneuvering capability of every police group like the Regional Public Safety Battalion and Provincial Public Safety Company down to platoon level.

“We will determine and assist their capability on what to put things or what they need.... like augmentation of troopers, patrol cars, communication equipment, training and recruitment,” Barrios said.

On the other hand , Zamboanga City Police Director Sr. Supt. Angelito Casimiro said his command needs  all- terrain 4x4 patrol cars and additional ammunition for their operations and maneuvering activities.

“ We need all-terrain 4x4 patrol cars because barangay roads in far-flung areas are very rough,” Casimiro said. — Allen Abastillas
