A suspected member of the Abu Sayyaf Group and an alleged carnapper were arrested in two separate operations Wednesday.

A police report disclosed that Edwin Sawaldi Y Siarot aka Nur Hassan, a suspected Abu Sayyaf Group bandit was arrested at the vicinity of the local wharf.

Sawaldi was nabbed on the strength of a warrant for kidnapping and serious illegal detention with case numbers 3537-1129, 3608-1164, 3611-1165, 3569-412 issued by Judges Leo Jay T Prinicipe of Branch 1 and Danilo M Bucoy of Branch 2, Regional Trial Court Isabela, Basilan.

Sawaldi was arrested by combined forces of the Anti-Vice-SOG, ZCPO, OCPNP/PCTC/PAOCC, RID, PRO9; 17TH ISU, ISG-PA; SPMK-PCTC; 84TH SAC, PNP-SAF and 16th MICO, around 6 p.m.

Jemhar Hallilulah Allih alias Memay Alih/Ustadz Haepa/Uztadz Wahid was arrested at Sitio Tawi-Tawi, Barangay Taluksangay around 11 p.m.

Alih was arrested on the strength of a warrant for carnapping penalized under R.A. 6539 otherwise known as the Anti-Carnapping Act of 1972 and attempted murder issued by Judge Catherine Fabian of RTC Branch 16.
