Another human trafficking attempt involving nine male minors was foiled Friday by government operatives in Zamboanga City.

Philippine Center on Transnational Crime Western Mindanao Field Office officials said the nine would-be victims were rescued at a local hotel. Most of them came from the municipality of Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The joint rescue operation was carried out by the PCTCWMO, Zamboanga City Police Office, Department of Social Welfare and Development 9 and ZCSWD and ZCPO Womens and Children Protection Desk and Police Station 11.

The names of the nine would-be victims were withheld as they are  minors.

The victims told investigators that they were threatened by their recruiter not to disclose his identity or else they will not be turned over to moro rebels.

The nine minors were put under the  custody of the Zamboanga City Police Office under City Director Sr. Supt. Angelito Casimiro. Charges have been prepared by the Zamboanga City Police Office against the recruiter. — Allen Abastillas
