In line with her personal advocacy on education, Mayor Beng Climaco yesterday continued the distribution of school bags to Grade 7 students in three national high schools in the east coast of this city.

Mayor Climaco together with her staff first motored to the Taluksangay National High School where she personally distributed school bags to Grade 7 students. She was assisted by the principal, teachers and barangay officials.

From Taluksangay, Climaco and party proceeded to Mercedes National High School and Culianan National High School for similar undertaking. School and barangay officials came in full force as well to welcome and assist the mayor.

In her message, the lady chief executive emphasized that the school bags were funded out of her personal money, a tradition she started when she was in congress, serving as District 1 representative and eventually the first woman-solon to serve as deputy to the House Speaker.

The school bag distribution is usually done before the opening of classes but because of time constraints coupled with a number of beneficiary-schools, the distribution has reached this late.

Just the same, Climaco said she would continue the tradition until all Grade 7 students shall have received the school bags.
