Congressman Celso L. Lobregat of the 1st District of Zamboanga bats for total electrification of sitios in the City.

As of 2014, there were 160 sitios in Zamboanga City, both in Districts 1 and 2, which are not energized. Included in the “Once and for All Summit” for the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP) and Barangay Line Enhancement Program (BLEP) Masterlist for Region IX, a total of 160 sitios in Zamboanga City (44 sitios in District 1 and 116 sitios in District 2) are supposed to be energized in years 2014 and 2015.

As per the National Electrification Administration (NEA), out of the 80 sitios programmed for 2014, only 15 sitios were evaluated and have funding allocation. Congressman Lobregat is pressing the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (ZAMCELCO) to submit the necessary documents to NEA for evaluation of the remaining sitios.

Lobregat, as the Vice-Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations on the Sub-Committee on Energy, presided the budget hearing of the Department of Energy (DOE), including its attached corporations, on September 2, 2014. One of the issues raised during the said hearing is the status of the Sitio Electrification Program, mandate of which is on the NEA.

Lobregat is actively coordinating with ZAMCELCO and concerned government agencies, particularly the NEA and DOE on the immediate implementation of the Sitio Electrification Program in Zamboanga City.
