Men of the Highway Patrol Group-9, while conducting an anti-carnapping operation along RT Lim Boulevard on Thursday, seized an Isuzu Crosswind with spurious documents

The operation was led by Insp. Mervin Claret together with SPO1 Joel Claret, PO3 Bobby Solis and  PO3 Albert Mamaril.

Claret said the green Isuzu Crosswind bearing Plate No. NMQ 952 is registered under the name of Sar Mosa of  the Fourth District of Makati City.

He said when the Crosswind was flagged down, his men found out it has no current sticker 2014 as the plate number is ending 2. It  was supposed to be registered on the month of February. The driver, a certain Mal  Amin of Tumaga,  also presented an expired driver’s license with spurious certificate of registration.

HPG 9 Chief Sr. Supt. Severino B. Agustin directed the HPG operatives to seize the unit and conduct further investigation and coordinate with the Police Regional Office-9 Crime Laboratory for the macro-etching  process to determine what the vehicle’s real engine and chassis numbers as well as its real owner.

Motorvehicle Clearance Officer SPO1 Wilfredo P. Ator checked with the Land Transportation Office data base and found out the certificate of registration presented by Amin was fake aside from having no records with the LTO. —  Allen Abastillas
