5 nabbed in police drive vs. motorcycle thieves PDF Print E-mail

Five persons blamed for the series of motorcycle thefts in Zamboanga City were arrested during hot pursuit operations in three different places yesterday.

Police recovered four stolen motorcycles in Sinunuc yesterday and last Tuesday.

Arrested were Ibrahim Kamdani, Gaful Saraban, both of Cawit, Alsid Luis, Jerry Kasim and Rashkol Kapala, all of Sinunuc. They were arrested by men of the Police Station 11’s Investigation Section led by Sr. Insp. Arlan Delumpines.

A police report disclosed that Delumpines and his men recovered the motorcycle of radio reporter Santos Cortez in the city’s west. It was stolen outside Brigada News radio station along Tomas Claudio Street recently.

At dawn yesterday, Kamdani, who was moving suspiciously, was spotted by policemen while he was targeting another motorcycle along Tomas Claudio Street

When Kamdani was accosted and held by the police, they recovered from his possession a sachet of shabu, two bullets of caliber 50 and of .38 caliber revolver.

Kamdani admitted to the police he is a member of motorcycle theft gang operating in the city.

The four others were arrested in separate pursuit operations carried out by Delumpines and his men  in Cawit and Sinunuc. Recovered from their possession were three stolen motorcycles.

Kapala was said to be their  financier.

Delumpines and his men were still tracking down other members of the same gang who are still at large as of press time.

Those arrested were detained at the central police station pending the filing of charges against them.

Meanwhile, Delumpines and his men arrested Cadzmir Tillah y Raub alias Benhar Taub at the vicinity of Land Transportation Office last Tuesday.

Tillah was nabbed on the strength of a warrant for carnapping.

The warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 14 dated August 18, 2014 with recommended bail bond of P300,000. – Dan Toribio Jr.
