ISABELA CITY — Gov. Jum Akbar announced yesterday that members of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) from this province will no longer have to travel to Zamboanga City to transact with the GSIS.

Akbar said the GSIS regional office has installed a GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System (G-W@PS) kiosk at the provincial capitol compound here in Isabela City, this province’ capital.

Akbar said local GSIS members “can now apply or verify status of their loans and update their records here, through the G-W@PS kiosk, instead of going to Zamboanga City.”

She said that GSIS pensioners can also renew their status at the kiosk and can process loan application without any documentary requirement aside from the members.

“They no longer need to spend much money and time in going to the regional office in Zamboanga City to transact with the GSIS,” Akbar said.

The G-W@PS was developed in the GSIS and makes use of a combination of world-class technologies, such as radio frequency identification, biometrics, and virtual private network to come up with a secure system that can perform processing remotely in a paperless manner.

The G-W@PS kiosk resembles an automated teller machine (ATM) that has a touch screen monitor though it is not an ATM since it does not dispense money.

To transact with GSIS, all the member and pensioner has to do is to place their eCard Plus in the G-W@PS kiosk’s card reader and validate by putting their finger lightly on the scanner.

Instructions in the GW@PS kiosk are easy to follow and a member or pension can finish their transaction in just a few minutes.

Luisito Sabado, GSIS Satellite Office head, said the kiosk was turned over last Friday to the Basilan provincial government by the GSIS Regional Manager Atty. Belen Tolentino James.

Akbar expressed gratitude to the GSIS for the installation of the G-W@PS kiosk at the provincial capitol as it brings the GSIS closer to its members in this province.
