The Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) has formally signified its intent to participate in the institutionalized implementation of the E-AlkanSSSya Program of the Social Security System (SSS) to provide social security protection for its job order workers.

As such, ZCWD and SSS both signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the said program last September 3, 2014 at the ZCWD Board Room, Pilar Street, this city.

In his welcome remarks, ZCWD General Manager Leonardo Rey D. Vasquez said, “the E-AlkanSSSya is a welcome opportunity for ZCWD job order workers to get social security assurance in terms of various insurance benefits can be derived by job order workers from being a member of the program.”

The E-AlkanSSSya derived its concept from the piggy bank which is a simple means to facilitate easy and convenient accumulation of  savings for the SSS monthly contribution payments of PhP 330.00, or a daily contribution of  PhP 11.00.  The program was originally intended to cater to the informal sector in order that social security benefits can be assured even for those within this socio-economic bracket.

Under the terms of the contract, monthly contributions from job order workers shall be automatically deducted from their respective salaries. — Montee E. Domingo-ZCWD, OIC-PRO
