An alleged big-time drug pusher from Zamboanga City was arrested in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay last Tuesday.

Nabbed was Samil Abdulah, a resident of Baliwasan, this city.

A police report disclosed that Abdulah was arrested by men of the Provincial Intelligence Branch, Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office during a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Taway, Ipil at 3:30 p.m.

Confiscated from Abdulah’s possession were two big sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia and marked money that was used in the police buy-bust operation.

Abdulah was detained at the Ipil Municipal Police Station while the confiscated items were forwarded to the PNP Crime Laboratory for examination.

Report said that Abdulah had delivered shabu in Ipil all the way from Zamboanga City.

The use of shabu is widespread in Zamboanga City and its neighboring cities and towns like Ipil, Isabela and Lamitan Cities where police drug buy-bust operations and drug raids are carried out regularly.

Last Saturday and Sunday, 20 people were rounded up in separate buy bust operations in Recodo, Sinunuc and in the city proper.

Based on police records, shabu peddling and abuse are happening in almost all barangays in Zamboanga City.

Recodo and Baliwasan are two of the most notorious places for drug peddling.

In Isabela City, a drug dealer was killed when he fought it out with a police raiding team that raided house in Barangay Kaumpurnah last Wednesday. Two policemen were wounded in the shootout.

Aside from the large size of shabu, the raiding team seized several firearms and grenades in the Alkhan Jailani’s house.

In Lamitan City, drug buy-bust operations have netted several pushers recently. — Dan Toribio Jr.
