Billiard hall gun attack in Dipolog City: 4 hurt PDF Print E-mail

Four persons were wounded when a gunman opened fire on a crowd inside a billiard hall in Dipolog City last Tuesday.

Wounded were Iky Jet Campomanes Y Alvarico, 29, Joel Cayud-Ong Y Andus, 43, married, a resident of Miputak, Dipolog City, Abraham Vergara, 51, a widower and billiard hall operator, and Jeiboy Lacay Y Chiong, 15.

Police said the gunman had targetted Campomanes, but stray bullets hit the three other victims.

A police report disclosed that Campones was standing inside Vergara’s billiard hall at Purok Bougainvillea, Barangay Turno, around 10:30 p.m. when suddenly a man standing at 5' 7” or 5’8" with black and white scarf covering his face, and armed with a handgun, entered and quickly shot the former several times hitting on the different parts of his body.

The gunman hurriedly rode a Black Honda XRM motorcycle without plate number and fled to unknown direction.    Joel Cayud-ong was hit on his right buttock. Also wounded, Joel Cayud-Ong and Abraham Vergara were rushed to and confined at the nearby Zamboanga Del Norte North Cooperative Hospital,  while Campomanes and Jeiboy Lacay were brought to the Zamboanga Del Norte Medical Center in Sicayab for treatment. Recovered at the crime scene were 10 empty shells and six slugs of.45 cal. pistol.

Dipolog City Police Station investigators were still working on the case.

Meanwhile, a dead man was found around 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Mahayag, Zamboanga Del Sur. He was identified as Allan Capin Dalura, 40, married, a laborer and resident of the said place.

Dalura was found dead by Genesis Candelario at a canal in the middle of a ricefield.

Investigation disclosed that around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, Dalura was seen by Kagawad Arnulfo Cañales Sullano pass their house and apparently drunk. He was heading towards his house, but upon reaching the ricefield,  Dalura slid and fell with his body hitting a pointed object that was installed as guard support of the farm dike. Dalura sustained lacerated wounds on his left thigh that resulted to his untimely death.
