District 2 Councilor Roel “Elong” Natividad has appealed to local mediamen to be more responsive to vital issues.

Natividad made the appeal during the opening ceremony of the Zamboanga Press Club, Inc. (ZPCI) Basketball tournament 2014 at the Mullti-purpose Covered Court of Zamcelco the other day.

Natividad, chairman of the City Counci’s Committee on Peace and Order and the Youth and Sports lauded the organizer of the tournament.

“I know this will strengthen the camaraderie among members and officers of the club,” Natividad stressed.

He also led the soft-launching of emergency hotlines by distributing to the different outfits as he appealed for a responsive members of the media.

“The emergency hotlines will help you and the residents in times of man-made and natural calamities,” Natividad said.

The emergency hotlines include 117, 166 and different cellular phone numbers and landlines for assistance to police, military, hospitals, fire stations, radio and television and other concerned agencies.

Natividad also led the ceremonial tossing of the ball in the match between the teams of ABS-CBN and Mixed team.

Mixed team won against ABS-CBN,100-95, while RMN-iFM beat GBPI-TV-11.

The basketball tournament is part of  ZPCI’s sports development program. It is being held every Saturday until October 4, 2014. — Monch L. Follosco
