BUUG, Zamboanga Sibugay — Policemen and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents have arrested three firemen who were caught in flagrante engaging in shabu session in this town’s fire station, a police official said Sunday.

Local police Officer-in-Charge Insp. Errie Samuel Bael identified those arrested as Senior Fire Officer 1 (SFO1) Arnold Indab, 46; FO2 Jessie Ruales, 48; and, FO2 Edwin Dalion.

Bael said the three  were caught engaging in shabu session in a raid carried out by policemen and PDEA agents around 10:50 a.m. Saturday at the barracks of the local fire station in Barangay Poblacion, this municipality.

He said the members of the raiding team recovered from the suspects’ possession one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, and prohibited drug paraphernalia.

Local Fire Marshal Insp. Edgar Quitoy said he was surprised by the arrest of his personnel since the raid took place just minutes after he left the fire station.

Quitoy said he instructed his personnel to conduct clean-up activity in and around the fire station after they had a weekend meeting.

However, Quitoy disclosed he already warned his personnel after Mayor Jonam Lagas informed him recently about reports that some firemen are engaged in the use of prohibited drugs.

Bael said the suspects were detained while appropriate charges are being readied for filing against them. — HDC
